What Does the Health Checker Analyze?

Our domain health checker runs six real-time tests against any domain, scoring each as pass, warning, or fail. The results are combined into an overall health score from 0 to 100.

DNS Resolution

We check whether the domain resolves to an IP address via A records using Google's public DNS. A domain that doesn't resolve is either misconfigured or not pointed to any server.

HTTPS / SSL

We test whether the domain responds on HTTPS, indicating a valid SSL certificate is installed. SSL is essential for security, SEO ranking, and browser trust.

Response Time

We measure how quickly the server responds to a request. Under 500ms is excellent, 500–1500ms is acceptable, and over 1500ms indicates potential performance issues.

WWW Subdomain

We check if the www subdomain is configured. While not strictly required, having www resolve properly ensures visitors who type "www." can still reach your site.

Email (MX Records)

We look for MX records, which indicate the domain is configured to receive email. This is important for business domains and can affect trust signals.

Who Is This For?

Webmasters can use this tool to monitor their own sites. Domain investors can evaluate a domain's operational state before purchase. SEO professionals can identify technical issues that might be hurting search rankings.

Health Checker FAQ

Why did my domain get a low health score?
Common reasons include: missing SSL certificate, slow server response, no WWW subdomain configured, or no MX records. Each failed check reduces the overall score.
Does this check run from my browser?
Yes. DNS and MX checks use Google's public DNS API. HTTPS and response time checks attempt direct connections from your browser. No data passes through our servers.
Why does the HTTPS check fail for a site I can visit?
Browser-based HTTPS checks can be blocked by CORS policies on the target server. A "fail" here may not mean SSL is missing — just that the check couldn't complete. Try visiting the site directly to confirm.
Can I use this to check a domain before buying it?
Absolutely. If a domain has active DNS, SSL, and good response time, it indicates an active site — useful context for acquisition decisions. Pair this with our WHOIS lookup for a complete picture.
